Sweater Design

My specialty belongs under the sweater and knit category, particularly womens patterned sweaters for the aspres ski market. I am able to design and develop patterned sweaters within specific yarn requirements and knitting techniques. I have also had the opportunity to work with a group of skillful Artisans in Nepal who have hand knitted for Icelandic Design’s, Newari Line.

Having this unique background of sweater development has allowed me to obtain a distinctive insight onto a niche market. I have also learned how to appreciate and value the dynamic power of color and how it can be manipulated by a simple twist with another yarn. I have been lucky enough to not only design but experiment and therefore cultivate a strong platform on how I can properly manipulate silhouettes with choosing a fiber and gauge. I am grateful to have had such a hands on tactile experience.

My future goals include working towards using sustainable yarns and fabrics, as well as implementing circular solutions into garment making practices.

Below you will see a few of my favorites from over the years.

Initial concept and color design, mixing color with yarn and texture to bring life to the next season. Much detail is placed on this first stage of our design process as the yarn is specially sourced and created for our sweaters.

Below are CAD renderings of how I design with gauge and fabrication in mind. These sketches represent how I show my patterns and are then sent to the factory.
